CAMELINA-BASED BIOTECHNOLOGY

According to the United Nations, the world’s growing population will increase to 9.6 billion by 2050. This means that global food production must double to meet demands.

However, as populations grow, so does the infrastructure, reducing the land available for cultivation and food crop planting. Additionally, changing weather patterns and increased pressure on scarce water resources make it difficult to increase worldwide food production.

ENGINEERING NEW METABOLIC PATHWAYS IN CAMELINA TO BOOST FOOD YIELD

We are committed to meaningfully boosting food yield by engineering new metabolic pathways and identifying new targets for gene editing in plants.

Using our Trait Factory, we identify and evaluate novel yield trait genes to enhance the yield and field performance of Camelina for major food and feed crops. In doing so, we strive to increase food production output while also reducing the strains on scarce natural resources.
